Celtic Camp Games FAQ
What are the Health and Safety guidelines?
Before booking is completed you will be asked to read and sign a safety statement taking full responsibility for your own actions and full responsibility for any minors in your care. Safety guidelines will be given before each activity. While a number of activities organised for the Lughnasa Games are sports and fun - proper caution and basic safety rules must be adhered to. All props including swords, spears and axes require responsible use and due care to others. Both Niamh and Con have first aid skills and a full first aid kit is available – please report any injuries however small for cleaning and dressing. Venue The Celtic Camp Games are located on a 16acre farm 7km west of Castlerea in North Co Roscommon. Directions can be found here. Can we camp at Rath Niamh? People may bring and pitch their own tents in the field just below the Rath. You must bring your own bedding and remember a blanket is also a cloak. We are in a remote location and so have beautiful dark skies to watch the stars. There are no night time street lights - a torch is essential. Will there be food? We provide hot food – breakfast, lunch and dinner. We source our food from local organic farmers when possible. Please indicate at time of booking if you have any special dietary requirements. Everyone is asked to bring his or her own spoon, knife, fork and bowl. Everyone pitches in and helps out when it is needed. All rubbish leaves with its owner. What will I wear? Dress for comfort and all weathers. We dress in Irish Medieval costume, i.e. a leine, over dress, tunic and trousers and a cloak. You are welcome to dress up in the spirit of the weekend...think Irish, Celtic, medieval...............there will be no authenticity officer at the door..fun and craic is our plan for the weekend. Oh and bring Wellies.... What are the toilet facilities? We have a toilet and wash hand basin for common use. Everyone will bring his or her own towel and toiletries etc but we will provide plenty of soft paper. What are the parking facilities? There is plenty of parking. Can I film the event? With prior arrangement only. Some or the entire event may be filmed. This would be used for promoting future events and for all participants to enjoy again and again. Anyone taking photographs and / or video is asked to share copies with us. What if I don't want to camp? There are some B&Bs nearby. |
